about

Darren Kerrigan is a Scottish illustrator and visual artist, born in Paisley in 1990. He studied Fine Art (BA Hons) at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art and Design in Dundee, where his work explored mysticism, mythology, gender and sexual identity.  His recent illustration work spans the genres of fantasy, sci-fi, mystery and the macabre.

Working primarily in ink, pen and pencil, Darren combines classical figurative drawing with contemporary graphic approaches, and imagery drawn from the imagination. His illustration portfolio spans independent publications and books released by established publishing houses.  His wider practice also encompasses works produced in oils, watercolour and digital media.

His work has been exhibited at Dundee’s Cooper Gallery and Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art and Contemporary Arts Centre. His video work was also selected for the British Film Institute’s 24th Annual Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.

Alongside illustration and visual art, Darren is a practising musician and keyboard player with the band Cherry Video, for whom he creates artwork, promotional material and music videos.

Based in Gartcosh, Scotland, Darren balances his creative practice with a career in the civil service.  He lives with his partner and his dog, Fred.
